After years of working with MTV, that creative work started opening doors to commercials. I wasn’t actively chasing them, but opportunities began to come my way.
The Burn project was a branded film for Coca-Cola Europe and Publicis Milan, created as part of a global campaign for Burn energy drink. Shot in city of Buenos Aires, and features skateboarders Rune Glifberg, Jonas Skroder, Hugo Maillard, and Dany Hamard.
The Burn project was a pivotal moment for me, marking my transition into the commercial world. As a skateboarder and a fan of Burn’s work, I was stoked to pitch on this project.
I came up with the concept of a fiery tornado—a metaphor for the internal storms we face and conquer through skateboarding. Like skating, it’s about learning every trick, embracing the process, and building patience and resilience. Skateboarding teaches you so much beyond the tricks, and I wanted to capture that.
The client digged the concept, but the budget and timeline were incredibly tight. We had only three days to shoot this in the super graphic city of Buenos Aires—a huge challenge, especially since most skateboarding videos take months to film to capture the tricks.
Despite the constraints, we pushed forward, and the project featured none other than Rune Glifberg. They say never meet your heroes, but Rune was everything you’d hope for—cool, talented, and down-to-earth. In those three days, we achieved a lot. The skateboarding was as solid as it could be under the circumstances, and Rune, Danny, Hugo and Jonas crushed it.
The crew, skaters, and people of Buenos Aires on this project were truly epic—talented, hardworking as hell, super creative, and just rad humans. This was a real pleasure to be a part of.
